A Non-theistic Spirituality of Authenticity, Understanding and Enthusiasm
The Humanist Community at Chautauqua explores an approach to life rooted in rationality, mutual meaning making, empathy, and shared responsibility. Through seminars, conversations, interfaith engagement, and community gatherings, we create opportunities for reflection on what it means to live ethically and fully in today’s world - to be more fully human. We encourage understanding through science, dialogue, creativity, and lived experience while affirming the dignity and worth of every person. We celebrate what some have called “moral beauty” — the quiet but powerful acts of generosity, understanding, and responsibility that sustain human life and community. We believe empathy is a strength, that kindness and justice matter, and that ordinary people working together possess extraordinary power to improve the human condition.
